A press conference on August 4, 2009, announced the decision on the alignment and the mode for the proposed Purple Line in suburban Washington, DC. It will be a light rail line connecting downtown Bethesda, downtown Silver Spring, Langley Park, College Park, New Carrollton, and points in between.
